This Thursday 10/10 from 5:30 to 7pm at Bestsellers:
The Lansing Area Printmakers Collective (Lino Ladies for short) is a group of eight professional artists who use the linocut as a starting point for their artistic work.
Each artist has her own style and her own way of using the linocut. Some work mostly in black and white, some in color. Some print on fabric or leather or exotic papers. Each enjoys pushing the boundaries of
what is traditionally considered a linocut.
Last year (2023), the Lino Ladies hosted the Big Print event in downtown Mason. This year, they decided to create an alphabet. Their alphabet was inspired by a show poster a friend emailed from Seville, Spain. In it, each letter was an individually designed linocut. Captivated by the idea, the Lino Ladies decided to try it themselves.
The result is a set of 26 exuberant letters and a 26” x 36” hand-printed poster. While each letter is complete in itself, together they form an alphabet. It will be displayed publicly for the first
time at Bestsellers Book Store in Mason (along with commercially-printed alphabet books and smaller alphabet posters).
Original work of the Lino Ladies will also be on display and available for purchase.
The show will run from October 7th through November 4th . A reception for the alphabet and the Lino Ladies will be held on October 10th from 5:30 – 7:00 at Bestsellers in Mason. Everyone is welcome!
